Marina del Rey Auto Repair

As a service station goes, they're cheaper than many of the gas stations around the airport and Marina area. The staff isn't too terribly interested in what you're doing if you're just paying for gas or pumping it, they concentrate mostly on the service-side customers.

These guys are really great. I would never usually consider getting full serve gas, but they take such great care of you here. Also, the service guys did NOT seem to be trying to take advantage of me AT ALL. I needed my tire replaced and asked if I should go buy the tire myself and he said 'Yeah.' They didn't charge me for the diagnostic and the service charge was reasonable.

I always feel like I've been ripped off here. The guys come off like Jerry Lundegaard from Fargo pushing service on you like clear coat paint. They've fixed a few things but I always felt overcharged. They also put the wrong kind of coolant in my car once which caused a bunch of problems they refused to acknowledge were their fault. So Villa Marina, you're dead to me.

I just dropped $1,600 on auto repairs and tires. I could have saved a few hundred dollars taking it somewhere else, but these guys have a pretty good reputation. I did have to take my car in twice for the same problem. They claimed the problem didn't show up on the diagnostic test the first time around. Okay, it can happen. Overall, I'm pleased, but watch those diagnostic tests. They charge you for them even if you drop a bundle on repairs. They will work with your extended warranty if you have one; however, you will have to pay upfront and get reimbursed. Still, it was nice having someone coordinate with the warranty company.

I agree with all of the good reviews about this 76 station. Although I pump my own gas my momma always told me to have full service at least every 2 months, which I do. We both go here. They are super quick, efficient, and have never sold me what I don't need. Over the years I've taken a couple cars there for problems and every time they figured it out and the price was reasonable. I have a new car now so hopefully it won't have any problems.

Even if you're too young to remember what "service station" used to really mean...here's a recap - gas stations used to offer a pleasant oasis from the road, where you could depend on at least one person to know how to assess a new clank clank clank or fix a spare -- at the very least be able to tell you whether you need more oil. As we all know, those days are long gone. Villa Marina 76 is a place where you can get that missing level of service -- and more. I've taken my car in several times here -- the staff is helpful, honest and totally organized. Ask for Dan. Tell him the woman who was with him when he got stung by a bee sent you.

OMFG!!! My car runs again and stopped stalling!!! Back around 2003, I was driving a 1995 Eagle Talon. [A what? What the hell is an Eagle Talon? Basically, Eagle is a part of the Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/etc. group and the Talon was the a re-badged Mitsubishi Eclipse.] I loved that car, it was cool [what can I say, my 1st car was a Chevrolet Celebrity station wagon]. But, it kept on stalling and the engine would constantly die when I came to a complete stop. So, to prevent the stall, I would slow down really far away and tap the gas once in a while to keep the engine revving a bit. I took my Talon/Eclipse to several mechanics, but none of them were able to fix it [actually, they said that they fixed it and then it would start dying and stalling again]. One day, sometime in 2003, my Talon/Eclipse dies at the Howard Hughes Promenade. Damn, what to do, what to do. So, I call 411 and try to get the name of a local mechanic in the area to tow my car. BEWARE, RANT BELOW: [Ok, why isn't the 411 service able to search by types of services, instead of by name only? I call 411 asking for an auto mechanic, and the operator asks, "What is the name of the mechanic you're looking?" I tell her that I'm looking for a mechanic in the area cause my car died, and so don't know the name of any mechanics in the area. She then tells me, "Sorry, we can only search by name." So, she does a search for "auto" in the area and then starts giving me the name of "automobile dealerships" in the area. Ok, that is not very helpful. I need a mechanic. Finally, she gives me the name for a towing company. Damn, that took way longer then it should have.] RANT ENDED: The mechanic takes a look at my car and keeps it overnight. I come back later and pick up my car. He tells me he fixed it and I think, "Yeah, yeah, that's what they all say." SURPRISE!!! My car stopped stalling and stopped dying!!! My car is actually fixed and I no longer have to tap the gas to keep the RPM's up to prevent the stalling. WOOHOO!!! Ok, but all good things must come to an end, and so did my car. For about another 3 years, my car kept on going without any problems, until it finally died in 2006. But hey, can't complain, right? My Talon/Eclipse ran for 11 years (1995-2006) and had over 200,000 miles on it.

These guys are just as bad as any other service station. I bring my car in for a few basic maintenance issues - oil change, tire rotation, and they end up trying to sell me $1,000 worth of service! Including a few that sound like TOTAL b.s. ($15 to clean the battery terminals and put some special solution on them? Hello it's called wiping it down with a rag). I am not getting hosed by these guys again. The common things seem to cost more, $40 for an oil change, $50 to rotate the tires - my old station back East would do the oil change and tire rotation for $30 combined! $55 for a smog check. Not going here again, the other yelp reviews really misled me.

Pleasant service, super efficient, and attentive. This is the ONLY service station about which I can say all three. They genuinely want you to be safe and happy. Bless them.

Super polite and efficient. I went there for a smog check and the car was ready at the time promised and it passed! Dan is a pleasure to work with.
